On March 8, 2025, the Kalule Zone community in Kawempe 1 Parish successfully hosted a transformative community clinic aimed at improving healthcare access and raising health awareness. This initiative, strategically planned to coincide with International Women’s Day, placed a special focus on women’s health while also offering essential medical services to the broader community. With the support of medical professionals, volunteers, and key stakeholders, this clinic provided free healthcare services to over 300 residents.
Addressing Key Healthcare Challenges Kalule Zone, one of the most densely populated areas in Kawempe North County, faces significant healthcare challenges. Many residents struggle with limited access to medical services, leading to high rates of preventable diseases such as malaria, HIV, typhoid, diabetes, and hypertension. Through this community clinic, healthcare professionals provided essential medical screenings, consultations, and health education to improve overall well-being.
Key Activities and Services The community clinic successfully offered a range of services tailored to meet the needs of the residents, including:
- Antenatal Services: Free maternal health check-ups for pregnant women to promote safe pregnancies.
- General Medical Consultations: Expert medical advice for various health conditions.
- Diagnostic Testing: Free screening for malaria, typhoid, H. pylori, Hepatitis B, syphilis, tuberculosis, hypertension, and diabetes.
- HIV Testing & Counseling: Confidential HIV screening and guidance for affected individuals.

- Eye Check-ups & Reading Glasses: Vision screenings to detect and address eye health issues.
- Deworming & Preventive Care: Distribution of deworming medication to children and adults.
- Health Education & Counseling: Sessions on disease prevention, hygiene, and healthy living practices.
- Distribution of Medical Supplies & Referrals: Providing essential medicines and referrals for advanced medical care where needed.
